Self-conceded and stubborn:

       Is that you or I?

I noted that you are a member of a “Special Committee on Aging”. We are getting
gracefully or otherwise older with each day. I have many friends that are around my
age. Some how I am influencing my contemporaries because of my positive outlook
upon my live and in particular the hereafter in general.  I am under 100 and slowly
falling into the category of aging people.
I exercise every day in Four Seasons located in Dumfries. We swim and we dance a
lot.  At home, I practice YOGA, Tai Chi and Falun Gong. Chinese philosophy is about
eating moderately. In the Far East, people may live longer and have a better quality of
life, because of their diet.

The less food you have available, you will experience a healthier quality of life.
Strange philosophy, isn't it? However, I think it has some merit.

We had a dinner in the Chinese place and ate well. After paying the bill, the waiter
handed us some fortune cookies.

Mine was:    Do not be self conceited! You may be
better than others, but there is
                                                    God above you.

The second cookie says: Stubbornness is not a good virtue.

What am I to make of it? These are simple Chinese sayings in fortune cookies.  Let
me stretch my imagination and explore the possibility as to how I could fit into these
sayings.

Webster's definition is: Having an exaggerated opinion of oneself, once merits, etc.
vain,  (Obs.) whimsical; fanciful

Well, I am self conceited; (I could almost challenge any man and would find that 98%
of us are that way. What do you think of this idea. Are you on the other spectrum of
the coin?

Concerning Stubbornness. It is a different story;

Webster’s definition is: Refusing to yield, obey, or comply, resisting doggedly or
unreasonably, resolute or obstinate, Hard to handle, treat or deal with, intractable.

There are not to many people that fit into this category. They are very successful in
life because everything evolves around them. They control the situation and
generally come up on top because they attract weaker person then they are and thus
can control the person and the environment around them.

I don’t fit into this category, because I view a problem from a compromise
prospective and will negotiate a resolution leading to mutual satisfaction. I will not
cave in to resolve a problem unilaterally. If the resolution is just and reasonable I will
not be in a way to oppose it for the sake of stubbornness.

Among the Elderly, there are indeed astronomical problems that lead to Lowliness,
anxieties, and a host of negative attributes that makes their lives miserable.

But, there are some fortunate that concurred these attributes and live a life in
paradise, even upon this earth.  Financial sufficiency is not the answer to
comfortable living and become self-sufficient. It is the state of mind that is the
rewarding attribute for this success.
