Mantra what is Mantra?

To day you will hear about “Mantra.”  Why mantra, it is a story about helping our self to stay healthy and resist of being
a good host to illness. Mantra can be a tool to make self healthier. Like every advice given see a doctor first and then
listen to exercise programs that stimulate our being to be well balanced.

A Mantra is a series of syllables. Some that I know about are “Hari Om,” “OmShanti,” “Om Tat Sat,” and simply the
syllable “Om.”

They are used in “YOGA” but not exclusively. Its use produces inner vibrations.  The vibrations produce opening to
secretly communicating with your deity.

What is so important about mantra?  None that I can put my finger on, but; if you have a need of it use it like that;

Keep on repeating the “Om” with the emphasis on the “m.” Stretch it out as far as you will, this in turn will stabilize your
“bellum intestinum”  (the internal war). The turmoil in your heart will subside and let you think straight. It will influence you
entire body by making you aware of your problem. When you drift away, immediately return to the “mantra” and continue
to repeat the “Om” or whichever mantra you choose to work with.
When you are tormented with a dilemma and you know that it is hurting, to shake it off your mind, “Mantra” will help you
do just that.

Can you and I do it? Sure, but first listen to this story.
(Author unknown)

Once upon a time (Yes, it’s one of those stories), there was a poor young man who lived by a beach. Daily he would
take a walk on the beach to pick up his supplies of wood. But, one day as he was walking he runs into a holy man. He
was complaining to him about the sorry way of life he let, and pleaded with him if he could help. The Holy man told him
that he had a magic oil lamp but within it, it had a wish-granting monster. The problem was that if the led run out of
wishes, the monster would eat him up. The led said, I never run out of wishes. The holy man warned him that if you have
any trouble with it <> please cal upon me three (3) times.

The lad was excited, and he started to rub the lamp. The genie propped out. “What is your wish” the lad could not bring
himself to make a wish, what are you wish, the Genie said, quickly, or I eat you up?  The lad said. I want I want a palace.
Genie, It’s done pointing to an exquisite marble palace. I want knew clothes, Genie its done, I want money, Genie, its
done. I want great power Genie it’s done. Servants, food, women, Genie, its done. Suddenly he realized that he could
not remember a wish. The Genie realized it and began to advance toward him to eat him up.  The led began to run and
he tripped. Suddenly he remembered the wise man name and said it three times. The wise man appeared. He asked
what’s the problem, and he said I couldn’t keep the Genie busy enough so he is after me. I thought not.  The wise man
pulled out of his beard the curliest of curly hairs.  “Give him this, and ask him to straighten it,” said the wise man. The lad
did just as he was instructed, and the Genie grabbed the hair with all arrogance. The genie fist wetted his thumb and
index finger and, peering close to the hair, tried to straighten it. But every time he did, it curled up again.

“Now” said the wise man, “Whenever you want him, call him and take the hair away.  When you can’t use him anymore,
give the hair back to him.”

So it is with the mantra. The mind is like the genie, always ready to devour us. At those moments, give it the mantra to
repeat, i.e., the curly-hair theory; when you need it for a task, take the curly hair back and direct it toward the job at
hand.

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES THAT YOU WOULD FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS? None, why would I not follow them?

Again once upon a time a “Swami Ramdas” a devotee of the Hindu deity, Lord Rama. He repeated the simple mantra,
“Om Sri Ram, Jaya Ram, Jaya Jaya Ram, for seven consecutive years. He performed no other spiritual practice; he
simply recited the mantra with devotion and concentration. Because of this single-mindedness, he received full
realization, and become known throughout the world as one of India’s greatest sages.

SAGE  = an elderly man wisely respected for his wisdom, experience and judgment. He is capable of healing.

Several years ago I did use mantra for the purpose to overcome my personal problem associated with my divorce that
extended into depression. I have seen a doctor; he was very busy and listened to my story very briefly and said, when
major changes occur in our live the nervous system becomes part of the solution seeking. He did not prescribe any
medication and said; once you have accepted the infraction you will in time begin to see progress. I thanked him and
went home depressed. I did not give in to be a good host to my problem; I began working on it; and this is how I did it;

I commenced a regimentation of ceaseless praying. This developed into a routine to eliminate all obstacles from my
mind. This is not an easy task because while I was trying ceaselessly to pray continuous interference began to mount in
my mind to detract me from the task.  I took time and energy to actually use similar exercises or Mantra, as did Swami
Ramdas with astounding results. After becoming relaxed and calming the fire in my abdomen I realized that I was
positively inspired and begin to feel at ease. My depression subsided and at this juncture.  I recognized that I could
touch a sick person and virtues would go out of me, this was phenomenal. This was going on within me for quite
sometime until I did not have a valid purpose to continue the practice because no one had asked me to help. I could not
offer this help because people are very reluctant to accept healing. They simply think that it is a hoax and there is no
validity to it.

It comes back to the story what Jesus said to his disciples. If you have faith like a mustard seed and you order a
mountain to move, it will. What does it mean to have faith, it means that a person has surrendered all his problems to
God who in tern, in his time, awards the person virtues that are literary eliminating illnesses and changing attitudes in a
gathering when this person is present.
